Ted VA3TSG, Rick VE3VFT/VA3VO along
with yours truly operated in the 2007 CQ World-Wide SSB Contest from
Rick's summer cottage on Leach Lake about 20 KM east of the town of
Bracebridge, Ontario in the Muskoka Region.
We operated in the "Multi-Single" category with a Yaesu FT-990, along
with a solid state amp putting out about 400 watts.
Antennas consisted of a Cushcraft A3S tribander (not up all that high),
a Butternut HF2V vertical with about 32 ground radials and a 40m dipole
up about 30 ft.
Conditions weren't the best being at the low end of the sunspot cycle
and being surrounded by rocks but we did manage a little over a
thousand QSO's and scored somewhere over half a million points.
Below you'll find a few photos from the VA3VO effort. I hope to have some low resolution video up soon.
